N.C. officials pitch wind farm plan

The North Carolina officials proposed the "pilot project", a project that would have three wind turbines put up in Pamlico sound. This will give N.C. the opportunity to lead the nation in wind energy production. The University of North Carolina ans Duke Energy Carolinas are expected to sign a contract to install the turbines 7 to 10 from the shore in the sound between Avon and Buxton. The project is seen as research and development, so Duke agreed to pay the bill. Governor Perdue says, "she is bound and determined to safely and aggressively pursue green power and make North Carolina the home of innovation around the world." The turbines will still be visible on a clear day, therefore the community is still in debate about the proposal. The officials say we cannot make this go through without the community's support.
I think it is great that N.C is making proposals to try and be more green, I like the idea of the turbines, but i can understand why someone living near them would not like waking up everyday having to look at them. I am interested as to why other states aren't being productive and determined to become more green like N.C. is. My question is how long a proposal like this would take to circulate through all the right people to get the project finished. I would like to know more of the statistics as to how much energy will be saved with the turbines.

The Great Barrier Reef!

In Canberra climate warming is impacting Australia's Great Barrier Reef, which is one of the largest living organisms. It spreads off of Australia's east coast 345,000 square miles. Government reef management says the great barrier reef is getting worse and there may not be a way to stop in from diminishing. Not only is it the climate warming, but pesticide and fertilizer run off has polluted the reef making it more likely to decrease in size. Maybe with affective bleaching the reef will be recovered. There are plans to stop half the run off of pesticides and the WWF is more aware of the issue since the article was written.

I think it is great that the article was addressed. I like the article because i think we should save what precious organisms are left and when it is the great barrier reef we should work extra hard on getting it recovered. The article interested me because when I was in Bermuda I was fortunate enough to scuba dive around a reef and they are really amazing with all the different wildlife and we should protect them. I have a question about the bleaching of the reef and more on how it is used. Also I would like to know if any organisms within the reef are becoming extinct because the reef is in danger.
